Covid-19 Response Plan Summary

For Employees:

  • If you are feeling sick stay home and call Wild Water West before beginning of work shift
  • Each employee will be subject to a non touch temperature check before every shift
  • Employees who appear to have symptoms (i.e., fever, cough, or shortness of breath) upon arrival at work or who become sick during the day should immediately be separated from other employees, customers, and visitors and sent home.
  • If an employee is confirmed to have COVID-19 infection, Wild Water West will inform fellow employees of their possible exposure to COVID-19 in the workplace but maintain confidentiality as required by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Wild Water West will instruct fellow employees about how to proceed based on the CDC Public Health Recommendations for Community-Related Exposure.
  • If employees cannot maintain physical distancing, they must wear all applicable PPE (gloves, masks etc.) while on site
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces including workstations
  • Maintain 6 foot distancing rules between other employees and guests
  • Avoid using other employee’s phones, workstations and other frequently touched objects
  • Avoid frequent touching of face, eyes, nose and mouth
  • Employee break areas need to be in open air environments or nearby pavilion or new area to allow social distancing rules
  • Wipe down and sanitize break area after each break
  • Regularly clean and sanitize all work areas every 2 hours
  • Staff will maintain proper hygiene practices including washing hands while on shift
  • Additional staff members walking through the park with sanitizing buckets wiping down all surfaces and chairs
  • Both male and female bathrooms will be cleaned and sanitized hourly throughout the day and at the end of the night
  • Staff will wipe down and sanitize items touched by guests after each use

To encourage proper physical distancing measures employees will be limited in certain areas:

  • Up to 4 people in Ticket area plus 1 manager
  • Up to 5 people in Surf Side plus 1 manager
  • Up to 5 people in Sharky’s plus 1 manager
  • Up to 2 people in Brain Freeze
  • 1 person in Tiki Bar
  • 1 person in Swim Up Bar
  • 1 person in Parrot Bar
  • 1 person for Gift Shop for lockers and mini golf balls
  • 1 person in Cowabunga
  • 1 person in Bumber Boat
  • 2 people in Go-Karts
  • 1 person at Batting Cages
  • Additional staff will be at assigned positions throughout the park to maintain physical distancing and sanitizing
  • Additional measures may be implemented as we continue to operate

For Customers:

  • Wild Water West will operate at maximum 50% of visitor capacity. But this will be monitored and adjusted to potentially less depending on what physical distancing rules can be monitored and enforced.
  • For the safety of our customers and staff we are practicing all safety guidelines and protocols from the SD Department of Health and the Center for Disease Control
  • If you are feeling sick or experiencing any symptoms such as coughing or shortness of breath you will not be allowed admission
  • All guests will be encouraged to wear PPE while on premise. Masks and gloves will be available for guests if requested.
  • Temperature screenings for all guests will take place prior to admission. If your temperature is 100.4°F or higher you will not be allowed admission
  • If you begin to experience symptoms of Covid-19 while on premise, you must isolate yourself and leave the premises as quickly and safely as possible
  • Everyone will be required to maintain 6 foot physical distancing rules from other guests and staff throughout the facility including but not limited to; waiting in concession lines, mini golf, bumper boats, go-karts, slide tower, batting cages, bars, swimming pools, on deck, in cabanas and pavilions
  • Life jackets and inner tubes will be cleaned and sanitized after each use
  • Hand sanitizing stations will be placed throughout the facility in high traffic customer facing locations
  • Deck chairs will be sectioned in groups of 3 and spaced 6 feet apart and must maintain spacing. Additional staff will be walking through the park with sanitizer cleaning and wiping down high touch surfaces including deck chairs after each use
  • The use of pavilion and cabanas will be limited and maximum pods of 6 people will be allowed together and must be 6 feet apart from the next pod
  • All pools will have a capacity limit and sign posted at each one to ensure physical distancing
  • Bathrooms will be cleaned and sanitized hourly with additional sanitizing wipes available for customers if they want to self sanitize prior to use
  • All concessions will be single use items. Refillable Souvenir Mugs will not be allowed to be passed through the window to be filled again. Staff will fill a disposable cup to give to the customer at the discounted rate and the guests can pour and fill their souvenir mug
  • Guests will be encouraged to make paperless transactions. Credit/Debit cards will be accepted in all places.
  • Guests must follow all rules and posted signs throughout the facility
  • All rules will be enforced if not followed correctly

For Attractions:

Batting Cages

  • Customers will maintain all 6 foot social distancing rules while waiting in line
  • Only 1 participant at a time in each batting area
  • No open toe shoes, sandals or bare feet
  • Helmet must be worn while inside the batting area
  • All equipment will be wiped down and sanitized after each use

Sand Volleyball

  • Customers will maintain all 6 foot social distancing rules while participating
  • All equipment will be wiped down and sanitized after each use
  • Maximum capacity of 10 people per court

Go-Karts

  • Customers will maintain all 6 foot social distancing rules while waiting in line and entering and exiting the Go-Kart area
  • Go-Karts will be wiped down and sanitized after each use
  • Please be aware and courteous of those around you maintaining appropriate distances at all times

Bumper Boats

  • Customers will maintain all 6 foot social distancing rules while waiting in line
  • Boats will be wiped down and sanitized after each use
  • Please be aware and courteous of those around you maintaining appropriate distances at all times

Mini-Golf

  • Customers will maintain all 6 foot social distancing rules while participating
  • Please be aware and courteous of those around you maintaining appropriate distances at all times
  • Golf equipment will be cleaned and sanitized after each use

Slide Tower

  • Customers will maintain all 6 foot social distancing rules while waiting in line by staying 3 steps away from the next person
  • Customers will participate 1 slider at a time
  • Do not share or swap inner tubes while in line
  • Tubes will be cleaned and sanitized after each use before the next participant can use it

Activity Pool

  • Customers will maintain all 6 foot social distancing rules while participating
  • 7,500 square feet of activity pool, 28.26 square feet per person = 265 maximum capacity
  • Lifeguards will regulate number of participants coming and going from the pool

Caribbean Falls

  • Customers will maintain all 6 foot social distancing rules while participating
  • 4,750 square feet of play area, 28.26 square feet per person = 168 maximum capacity
  • Lifeguards will regulate number of participants coming and going from the area

Kiddie Pool

  • Customers will maintain all 6 foot social distancing rules while participating
  • 2,200 square feet of play area, 28.26 square feet per person = 77 maximum capacity
  • Lifeguards will regulate number of participants coming and going from the area

Lazy River

  • Customers will maintain all 6 foot social distancing rules while participating
  • A limit of 100 inner tubes/participants at a time in the lazy river. Once full, customers must wait until someone leaves, the tube is sanitized, and then handed to the next participant

Wave Pool

  • Customers will maintain all 6 foot social distancing rules while participating
  • 21,000 square feet of wave pool, 28.26 square feet per person = 743 maximum capacity.
  • Lifeguards will regulate number of participants coming and going from the wave pool
